What is Grace? Part 3: Grace in the Old Testament

When we consider the word grace, we often reference the New Testament, especially Paul’s writings on grace. But the usage of the word grace is actually all throughout the Bible, even in the Old Testament.

When we consider the Old Testament, many think of law, judgment and an intense standard of living that cannot be achieved. We think of rules. We think of performance based pressure. In my observation, many see the Old Testament as a God who is moody, angry all the time and just wanting to kill people.

But I want to encourage you to open your heart and your perspectives, so that when you read the Old Testament passages, you see the work of grace showing. If you look for it, you can see it in operation. Grace didn’t start only in the New Testament. You can actually see its work in the pages of the Old Covenant Scripture.
