Living in the Flow of God’s Love

When it comes to learning to love yourself the way God loves you, one of the things you need to realize is that love has a flow to it. Love is meant to flow from God to you and this must be received. In response to receiving God’s love, you are able to love Him back. Out of the love you have received, you give it out to those around you that cross your path.

Many Christians have not lived in the flow of God’s love. They have spent years trying to love others, while completely ignoring their own heart. This led to eventual burnout and even deep seated bitterness. Many have fallen into an identity crisis, nervous breakdown or emotional crash because they spent years, even decades, ignoring themselves. Many have been trained to spend their lives helping others, but their own heart was ignored, creating a massive imbalance from what God intended.

Believers have been taught to live their lives in such a way that they love God. In attempts to love God, they feel so distant from Him. They don’t know how to connect to His love because they have never been taught the importance of learning to receive HIs love. The Bible says that “we love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). We missed the fact that you cannot love God effectively unless you have learned to receive His love. Then loving Him becomes a response to what you have received.

Loving yourself should never be selfish. If it is, then it is not love to begin with. That is because love is a flow, a river that cannot get damned up. The love you receive from God must flow out to others. But you cannot skip over the receiving part.

In this episode, we want to emphasize the importance of love’s flow and help you discover where there may be blocks in your life.
