What Feelings of DESPERATION Can Mean for Your Mental Health

Do you ever find yourself drowning in feelings of desperation? Where your mind and body feel so overwhelmed by what you are going through, that every part of you is crying out and even begging for help?

Maybe you are there right now.

I know I have been there countless times. In fact, I often felt like I was living in seasons of desperation, where I felt like I was so ill equipped to deal with the struggles I was continually facing.

I cried out to God from this place of desperation. I interpreted having spiritual passion as showing desperation. I was conditioned to think that if you don’t beg and plead with great intensity, your prayers are not really meaningful and God probably won’t hear. I also found myself talking to other people for help from that place of desperation.

It took me a while, but I had to learn that while we all face feelings of desperation, desperation is not a place to live in.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Desperation can come upon us because we feel so helpless. But it can also condition us to think that it is the only way we will get any help in life.

I had to learn a new way of relating to my problems, struggles and trials that were not captured by desperation living. With compassionate grace, I needed to see what my feelings of desperation actually meant and soberly take steps forward into what I really needed.

This is something I seek to share within everything I teach today.

Every week I interact with brothers and sisters who communicate through cries of desperation. They have an intensity of needing answers to the topics that are hovering over their minds. They have battles they wish would just go away. They have a mindset that says, “I need help and I need it now!” They find themselves rushing for something to quickly fix and alleviate their pain.

But there are some very important things that need to be learned in the midst of feelings of desperation. In the swirl of emotions that desperation brings, we may not be seeing or hearing the help that we actually need.

If you feel yourself drowning in feelings of desperation, I believe what I share in this latest video can be a tremendous help to your journey. It could also help you experience greater long term fruit in your healing and freedom journey.
