I believe that complex trauma and CPTSD is a pervasive problem. Understanding it can also help to explain a driving force within many of the mental health battles that people face today. Of all the subjects of trauma, I personally find this specific area can be beneficial for many to learn and walk through for healing.
Complex trauma is really about your home life and upbringing. For those who grew up in an unsafe or chaotic home, experienced repeated trauma, grew up with a narcissist or addict parent or recognized they were raised under chronic emotional neglect, this subject can be very helpful for you.
Complex trauma impacts so many areas of life. It messes with how you handle your emotions, how you see yourself, and how you relate to others. You might struggle with feeling worthless, constant battles with your emotions or issues with having really rocky relationships.
Complex trauma is exactly that, it’s complex. There are layers to this. But the good news is that what was learned that was not healthy can be unlearned. Also, while CPTSD can leave us with spider webs of complicated wounds, healing always leads us back to the simple and fundamental.
The journey I want to take with you is one about learning what it means to heal, to walk in emotional safety, to learn to trust again and step into new relationship patterns.
