In this live broadcast we take you on a full journey through faith, mental health, and real-life struggle. I share updates on my upcoming book on Christian perfectionism and share an update on the Church Lady and the Church Gentleman’s journey together. You’ll laugh but also find some heart warming moments!
I move into a Bible study in Philippians 2:5–11, asking: What does it really mean to live with “the mind of Christ” in a world obsessed with status, image, and achievement? How does the humility of Jesus—His willingness to lower Himself, to enter our world, to live fully human—speak to our perfectionism, our drivenness, and our obsession with getting it all “just right” for God? I wrestle through the tension of Jesus being fully God and fully man, how His incarnation relates to our suffering, our nervous systems, and our mental health battles.
In the second half of the broadcast, I shift into live Q&A and get very practical about fear, anxiety, and emotional health. I address the question: “How do I find the strength to face my fears when I feel completely exhausted?” I talk about adrenal crashes and nervous system burnout—what happens when you’ve spent years over-responsible for everyone else’s emotions, living in fight-or-flight, and now your body simply says, “Enough.” I also respond to questions about toxic managers and how to practice Christ-like love without allowing ongoing emotional abuse, about hyper-vigilance and constant self-monitoring and about phobias of hell, fire, and punishment that are rooted in a deeply fearful, shame-based view of God.
