Struggling with Christian OCD, scrupulosity, anxiety, perfectionism and false teachings? In this live stream, we look at mental health through a biblical lens—addressing legalism, spiritual abuse, distorted teachings, salvation anxiety, and church burnout—while grounding everything in God’s love, grace, and your identity in Christ.
I talk about being a professional athelete while also working through social anxiety, imposter syndrome and OCD. I also lay out a plan of healing for someone who gets triggered by preachers who say, “Are you really saved?” or other kinds of preaching that can play on fear and guilt.
I also spend time talking about aspects of spiritual abuse and concerning teachings:
Working through detoxing the prosperity teaching while also recovering from growing up in an alcoholic home.
- How legalism, spiritual abuse, and fear-based preaching can damage your walk with God
- Salvation anxiety, rapture fear, and “Am I really saved?” loops
- Quick-fix, instant approaches to healing and deliverance that can be very dangerous.
- I talk about the concept of spiritual roots to diseases, the theory behind it and the problems with that kind of teaching. I also share a snippet of my journey studying it and why I cannot recommend it. I also speak briefly about the healing process I have had to embrace.
I take some time to talk about burnout, emotional exhaustion, and why many believers never truly rest. I also talk through 3 areas of grief that are involved when you have an emotionally absent parent who is now diagnosed with dimentia.
