If you want to live with a healthy spiritual and emotional heart, you have to adjust your response to pain. How we deal with pain in our lives will determine our overall wholeness in the future.
Pain is that not given to God for healing will often come out in our addictions. There are usually two unhealthy responses to pain that we often fall into. These extremes keep us from living healthy. The first is denial, stuffing and ignoring. The other extreme is victim thinking and self-pity. Both are unhealthy and need to be adjusted, so we can authentically experience heart healing.
