There is a common trait found in people who know who they are and live solid according to their true identity in God.
You are no longer convinced otherwise.
The greatest test of knowing who you are, is that you are no longer convinced otherwise. You are not as easily swayed away from what you know to be true. This is where identity becomes deeply engrained within. This does not mean that you are not correctable or you cannot receive a proper rebuke. It means that at the heart of what flows out of you, you are not so easily shaken anymore. For so many of us, we are way too easily swayed and shaken.
We fall prey to the “what ifs” and the “maybe I should. . .” We get so easily pulled away. What is that? We can so easily be pulled by every wind and wave of doctrine as the Bible talks about. that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting Ephesians 4:14 NKJV He calls it wind, because that is exactly what the enemy does in his attacks. Ways of thinking come to you that do not produce solidness in you, but swing you back and forth. Stability comes in your identity when you are not so easily shaken, no matter how hard the winds blow. You remain stable and resolve in who God says you are. It means that we stop arguing with ourselves anymore. Maybe that’s one of the things you need to settle.
You may need to resolved that you are not going to argue with yourself anymore, live in an internal debate, and listen to those unloving spirits speak to you. This litmus test only comes with experience. There are things you simply have to go through to solidify your identity and this cannot be avoided if you desire to become stronger in who you are. Even Jesus was tested in the wilderness about who He was. You will only become solid in who you are when those areas are tested, you go through the fire and come out on the other side stronger.
Where do you need to become more resolved to grow in your identity?
