#002: What Does Father Mean to You? [Podcast]

In this episode, I want tot help us understand the power of who God is as Father, and how He wants us to experience the Father’s blessing in our lives. Does father mean “blessing” to us, or does it mean something else? For many, they have never received a father’s blessing, so they struggle in relating to God, who wants to bless us as our Heavenly Father.

Isaiah 61:1-2 NKJV

1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

And the day of vengeance of our God

What is the anointing?

Basically, the work of the Holy Spirit through one person to another.

  • Its God’s way of touching His creation.
  • God’s works through relationship.
  • Ministry: the Holy Spirit working through a person (anointing) a touching another person.

What is the “anointing” of God doing?

First we need to understand the use of the word “Lord” here in the Scriptures.

Understanding the Lord God:

  • LORD God = Jehovah Elohim – God the Word
  • Lord GOD = Adonai Yehovee – God the Father

The Father’s heart: God’s desire is that that heart of the Father be shown.

Malachi 4:5-6 NKJV

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

6 And he will turn

The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

Key Work = restoration of relationship.

1. Biological Fathers to Sons.

2. Spiritual Fathers and Spiritual Sons.

3. Most of All = Knowing Father God as His Sons.

Matthew 24:12 NKJV And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

– Lawlessness, or without law, abounds because of a lack of fathering.

– Because of this, love relationship will grow cold with people.

The sin that we see growing in the land is due to the lack of the father’s presence.

There is a lack of the Father’s blessing.

Old Testament showed us the power of “the blessing” that the father releases. Usually through the laying on of hands.

Jesus Received the Father’s Blessing:

Matthew 3:16-17 NKJV 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “ This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Three Things the Father Speaks:

1. “I Love Him.

2. “He’s My Son.”

3. “I Am Proud of Him.”

Question: Do you have an experience of this blessing from your earthly father? Have you experienced this with your heavenly Father?
